Cat for Adoption

Lucky

I was given the name "Lucky" because things worked out for me so far! I am a beautiful ginger male tabby with gorgeous striped markings. I was first noticed just before Christmas time, hanging around outside in front of my rescuer's home. My rescuer felt sorry for me and put food outside for me. She even got me a heated water bowl - so that I was able to drink water that was not a frozen block of ice. I was so scared at first, that I would wait until she was gone and back inside before eating. I slept in a cardboard box with blankets outside her door. My rescuer was worried that I would freeze to death, so she got me an insulated shelter that a kind volunteer made for me. However, with weather in the minus 20s, I was very cold and pretty miserable outside....

My rescuer worked on gaining my trust, so that she could bring me inside.  I had a friend outside - another ginger male. However this one was neutered and had an owner. He hung out with me and helped me get used to people and together, we went into our rescuer's home to warm up and have little naps. When my friend was with me, I was more relaxed. However on days that I came on my own, I would panic and want to go back outside if the door was closed.

About two weeks after I was first noticed, a foster home was found for me.  This was great news, as it meant that I could come inside permanently! It took a few days to bring me in, as I disappeared for a day or so, or didn't come around at the planned times! However, one day my rescuer brought me inside for some food and a warm-up, and closed the door to my miserable life outside! I was a little panicked, but two volunteers quickly showed up, crated me quickly, and I was off to my new foster home.

That foster home was actually thinking of adopting me, and I was very happy. I loved it there because that home had two cats, and I especially loved to play with the other male. My fosters were very good to me, however, because I was newly inside and still had a lot of hormones, I started miaowing very loudly at night and in the morning. Unfortunately my fosters had insomnia, and my miaowing prevented them from getting the sleep they required, so I had to be moved.

With "luck" on my side, an adopter was found for me fairly quickly, so I was moved to my permanent home. Shortly after arriving there, my miaowing stopped. I was no longer lonely, as I had other feline siblings to play with.  I even got a girlfriend there - a beautiful Abyssinian female became my new buddy! ;-) And since I had been neutered, my hormones were in check.

I slowly started trusting my new adopted mom, and she was mesmerized by my beauty and big feet! I soon slept on the bed with her and the other feline siblings. As we got more comfortable with each other, I trusted my adopted mom to pat me, and started purring and enjoying tummy rubs. I am still a little hesitant in being picked up, but I love pats and snuggles now. And I love playing with her and chasing the toys she throws for me and chasing the laser pointer around.

However, as I got more comfortable in my new home, I wanted to play. I'm a young energetic cat who loves to run around!  The problem is with my feline siblings. They are geriatrics and all they want to do is sleep....! I want to run around, play chase, hide & seek, ambush, and run and jump up and down the cat trees all day long, but no one wants to play with me. :-( In fact, my geriatric felines are getting a little annoyed by all my energy and my wanting to play with them all the time. The way my adopted mom gets me to sleep at night, is to tire me out by making me run around and chase the laser pointer for a good hour or so, and then finally I slow down and everyone gets some rest! Therefore, as much as my adopted mom loves me and would have a very difficult time parting with me, she is willing to let me go - if someone has a big home with lots of space, and other young cats to run around with. She feels like I am not getting what I need in her small space with geriatric cats. It worked out well initially when I was shy and exhausted when I first arrived. But now that I am confident, comfortable, rested and healthy, I LOVE to play all the time!

I am a gorgeous energetic ginger male tabby that is about 1 year old. I am neutered, up to date on vaccines, and received a clean bill of health from the vet. I tested negative for feline leukemia and FIV!  I would love a larger home  with young cats to play with - if possible. If not, I will stay in the home where I am well-loved by my adopted mom, and annoying to my geriatric feline siblings! ;-)
