Cat for Adoption

Shanuk
Shanuk in her foster home with Group of 40 adoptee Davis.

I'm just a little fluffy cat, with a great big story....  Once upon a time, I had a home.  For whatever reason, I found myself living outside. I survived because I had help from a kind rescuer - who named me Shanuk. Everyday for at least two years, my rescuer brought me food and water outside.  I also had a friend outside - Diamond. He was my best buddy and we would go eat together. Our rescuer brought Diamond and & I to the vet together - to make sure we were healthy and neutered / spayed. Sadly, after a couple of years, our rescuer suddenly had to move. She didn't want us to be without food and shelter, so she brought me inside. (My rescuer was unable to bring Diamond in, however it is my wish that we will one day be reunited and together again... )

My rescuer temporarily fostered me until a rescue group could take me. From there, I went into a temporary foster home. Because I didn't have my vet records with me and my rescuer had already moved, I was taken to the vet. When the vet went to spay me, it was determined that I had already been spayed. [This was the third time that I had been opened up. When my rescuer took me in the first time, it was determined that I had already been spayed previously.....]

Because that rescue group no longer had space for me, I was going to be sent to another rescue and be placed in a barn with Diamond.  However, since Diamond did not make it inside, I had nowhere to go...... The vet looking after me fell in love with me because of my beautiful bright eyes and gentle nature, but she could not adopt me because she had too many other rescues to look after. Thankfully a foster space became available for me with Hungry and Homeless Cat Rescue, so I did not have to go back outside. However, I had a long and stressful travel to get to my new foster home.....

As a result of all of this recent upheaval, big changes and stress, I am shy and a little scared. I would do well in a quiet home with patient caregivers. I am a very beautiful, bright-eyed long-haired black fluffy female. I have beautiful green eyes and a very shiny coat. (It is especially thick now because I have my winter coat on!) It was first thought I was a kitten, although I am now estimated to be about three years old. I have been vaccinated, de-fleaed and de-wormed, and have my vet records proving that I am spayed! [I definitely do not want to opened up a fourth time!]

We, unwanted black cats, are known to be particularly affectionate, so if you are very patient, gentle and kind with me, you will eventually be rewarded with my love, purrs and snuggles of gratitude. Will you please give me a chance and provide me (and possibly Diamond ?) with the loving, stable, permanent home environment we seek?
