Cat for Adoption

Beba & Tonka beba tonka

We are a mildly special-needs bonded pair of purebred Peke-faced Persians who have have been through it all in a short period of time. We are hoping that  someone will past our history into our loving hearts and give us a forever and ever home.

We came with names that our foster could not pronounce, so what the names sounded like is what we ended up with: - BEBA and TONKA.

We were born in the summer of 2012, probably in a kitten mill in Quebec.  We were brokered on Kijiji, Gatineau to an uneducated buyer.  When our needs overwhelmed him,  he kept us locked in a closet.Thankfully we were noticed by a friend one day, who got us out of there and brought us immediately to rescuer. We were in pretty rough shape.

We were so matted that our skin had torn in several places.  Our staining was deep mahogany. TONKA had diarrhea, which gave his mats an extra "texture" and redolence.  Our eyes were crusted shut and our noses had to be chipped out from beneath the crud.  We  had bad eye infections, ear infections, upper respiratory infections,  and fungal infections.  TONKA also had ingrown dew claws.  We were uneducated in the ways of cats or humans, and completely terrified of everything.

Fortunately, we had each other.  We are likely brother and sister, although this is unclear from our minimal papgerwork. Nevertheless, we are best buddies who relied completely on one another to get through. For this reason, we are never to be separated and only adopted together.

It took over a year of vet visits, specialist consultations, treatments and not a few combs, to get us to where we are today. We still have some lasting damage. BEBA's tear ducts are completely blocked and cannot be treated. Her skin is susceptible to infection, and she is still not sure about the comb.  TONKA is left with  nasal passages are almost  twisted shut and cannot be operated on because the operation often makes the situation worse.  His jaws do not quite meet, so he drools a little, especially when drinking water.  However, if you get into the habit of giving us a daily grooming routine, we will do well and thrive!

While we were enduring eye tests, drips, dips and pills, our rescuer was actually a senior cat! He is an expert at rehabilitating neglected, abandoned, terrified cats and orphan kittens.  He taught us to be the sweet cats we are today. He taught us how to groom ourselves, play, relax, trust humans and be cats.

Although we are not super active, we do like to play.  TONKA loves to wrestle your forearm or chase the cardboard rolls out of the toilet paper. BEBA has a thing about catching the shadow cat that lives in the bathtub.  TONKA is a major snuggler; BEBA is more independent, but loves to rub noses and get strokes.

We would love to be adopted together into a loving home. We even come with some supplies! We have a starting food supply, bibs, t-shirts, stain remover and eye cleaner, our own comb and of course an urgent need to love someone who will be kind to us. You supply the forearm, the cardboard rolls and the bathtub to play in; and we'll supply all the love you'll ever want.....

BEBA - I am the dilute tri-colour female; the more independent of the two, but love to rub noses with you!
