Cat for Adoption

Tom
I urgently need your help. I am a formerly abandoned, abused cat – who needs a very patient and loving caregiver to help me heal. I am a beautiful blue-gray tom cat with amber eyes. The tips of my ears have fallen off due to frostbite, so I have a rather square-looking head. What is left of my left ear has a perfectly symmetrical hole at the base of it. An unkind human took a cigarette and either burned the hole into my ear, or used a hole-puncher to cut it out. The vet estimates I could be anywhere from 3 – 5 years old. My rescuers have known of me and been feeding me out in the streets for at least a couple of years. Because I have known human abuse, I am very shy of humans. I gradually started to trust my rescuers, and would sit beside them while I ate. I was very patient, and some people saw me sitting at various porches for hours at a time – facing blowing snow, freezing rain, ice and cold – in the hopes that someone would give me some food to eat. I am very clever and made my rescuer work hard to get me inside! My rescuer tried several methods to get me in to get me the care that I needed over many months, but unfortunately I was too savvy. Finally, in desperation, my rescuer just picked me up with bare hands and brought me inside, taking the chance that I was going to bite or scratch. That was not the case. I secretly was craving the kind attention, and enjoyed the affection. From then on, my rescuer patted me everyday, and I was very happy with all the kind attention and affection. I was quite sick when I came in. I had really bad Upper Respiratory Tract infection, gashes, wounds and abscesses all over my body. In fact, my rescuer told me she could not find one piece of smooth skin on me – my entire body was scabbed and cut up. I went to the vet a few times, even one emergency visit, to get the care and antibiotics I needed. I was given many antibiotics, and needed special drops in my nose to allow me to breathe. Because I was so sick, I would often cry at night. My rescuer was up almost every hour with me, patting me, reassuring me and making me some special soup which helped my cold. I really enjoyed the attention from my rescuer. One night, when I cried at 3am, she got up to comfort me and went into the kitchen to fix me some special soup. When she came back, I had escaped out of my recuperation pen! I will tell you a secret – I did that because I wanted to cuddle with her! When she went back to bed after that, I slept first at her feet, and then by her head on her pillow. I was so happy to finally be warm and have someone care for me, that I could not get enough attention…. Now that I am stronger and a little better, I am in a temporary foster home until I find my permanent home. I have been neutered, and sadly it was determined that I have FIV. This just means that I have to have extra good food to keep my immune system strong. I will have to use good quality non-clumping litter, which cannot cause any irritations and infections. I will never be able to go outside again (not that I want to after my terrible time out there), and I should be the only cat in the home or a companion cat to another cat with FIV. Will you please provide me with a safe and loving environment to heal in?
